JRU names Louie Gonzalez as Heavy Bombers' new head coach

MANILA--The JRU Heavy Bombers have a new head coach.

Coach Louie Gonzalez took the tactician duties from Coach Vergel Meneses, who is running for public office. Gonzalez's appointment took effect last April 1, 2019.

Gonzalez will take with him a two-decade old experience in coaching collegiate teams from both the NCAA and the UAAP, to which he was a part of some championships.

He is also widely involved in the grassroots development of basketball in the country.

Joining Gonzalez in the coaching staff of the Heavy Bombers are Eddie Laure, Eric dela Cuesta, Mixson Ramos and Vic Lazaro as his assistant.

Lazaro also happens to be the head coach of the JRU Light Bombers.

Coach Glen Capacio also joins the team as as an active consultant.

The Heavy Bombers will be seeing action this May as they join the FilOil Flying V Preseason Premier Cup as part of their preparation for the 95th season of the NCAA.
