MANILA—A mixed martial arts fan may not believe it if someone tells him or her that there are fighters who play Christian songs when they enter the cage.

However, it is exactly the case for two members of the renowned Team Lakay, arguably the Philippines' top MMA stable.

Danny Kingad, currently signed with One Championship, makes his way to the cage to the tune of "Like a Lion", which is originally sung by David Crowder and is made popular by Christian band Newsboys.

"Pag pinapatunog ko yan, parang nabubuhay talaga ako," Kingad told Dugout Philippines why he chose the said song, which also goes by the alternate title "God's Not Dead", for his cage entrance.

Interestingly enough, Jeremy Pacatiw also planned on using "Like a Lion" as his entrance song.

"Noong una, 'God's Not Dead' din yung gusto ko, pero yun, ginamit na. So naghanap ako ng ibang [kanta na] sumasabay [sa theme]," Pacatiw, who is currently part of Brave Combat Federation, told Dugout Philippines in a separate interview.

Eventually, he settled for "Nothing is Impossible" by Planetshakers.

"Meaningful yung lyrics," Pacatiw said about the said song, which is based on Luke 1:37 and Philippians 4:13.

Both Kingad and Pacatiw see the said Christian songs as a reminder that God is always with them every time they fight.

"Ang iniisip ko, I'm with God, [kaya] ready na ready talaga ako--walang takot," Kingad added.

"Alam naman natin na kahit sino na tao, if talagang may passion siya, yung belief niya mismo kay God, dedication, at motivation, siyempre nothing is impossible if you push yourself--yung hindi ka magku-quit," Pacatiw further quipped.

Both fighters vowed that even if they find themselves at a different MMA promotion, they will still use "Like a Lion" and "Nothing is Impossible" as their respective entrance songs.
