Magnolia bounces back, forces QF Game 3 vs. Ginebra

QUEZON CITY--Magnolia recovered from its Game 1 defeat against Ginebra in style, clobbering its Manila Clasico rival, 106-77, in their PBA Philippine Cup quarterfinal rematch at the Smart Araneta Coliseum on Wednesday night.

The Hotshots opened the game on an 11-0 run, and despite the Barangay threatened a bit with a 7-0 run that cut the lead down to four, they continued on pouncing them, even opening a lead as 31 in the fourth.

Ian Sangalang made 21 points, nine rebounds, and one steal for Magnolia, which forced a rubber match in their best-of-three series on Wednesday night at the said venue.

Jio Jalalon added 17 points, five rebounds, six assists, and five steals.

Sol Mercado put up 13 markers, six boards, three dimes, one steal, and one block for Ginebra.
