Magnolia zooms late to take 3-2 semis lead vs ROS

TAGUIG--Magnolia moved to within a win from returning to the PBA Philippine Cup Finals after beating Rain Or Shine, 82-74, in Game 5 of their semifinal series at the Cuneta Astrodome in Pasay on Wednesday night.

The Hotshots recovered in time in the fourth quarter to take a 3-2 lead over the Elasto Painters in their best-of-seven series.

Magnolia held ROS to just 10 points in the first quarter, but the latter recovered offensively in the next two periods drawing to within one, 57-58, entering the fourth.

The game remained tight for most of the final canto until the Hotshots ended the game on an 11-4 run to pull away.

Mark Barroca and Jio Jalalon each put up 14 points for Magnolia, which can close out the series on Friday night.

Gabe Norwood made 15 points, five rebounds, one assist, one steal, and two blocks for ROS.
