San Beda-Mapua clash opens Fr. Martin's preseason tourney

MANILA—The 25th season of the annual Fr. Martin’s Cup Summer League will tip-off on Sunday, April 7, 2019 at the SGS Gym along G. Araneta Ave. in Quezon City with an exciting quadruple-header featuring defending seniors champion San Beda University.

The San Beda Red Lions will open its title-retention bid against Mapua University in Group A of the seniors division in the first game slated at 8 in the morning.

The San Beda-Mapua season-opening clash will be followed by the Group B juniors division between San Beda-Rizal and Adamson University at 9:30 a.m.

At 11 a.m., Group B squads Far Eastern University and Diliman College will battle in another seniors division affair.

Rounding out action in the opening day festivities are St. Patrick High School and Diliman Preparatory School in Group A of the juniors division at 12:30 in the afternoon.

The seniors teams of San Beda and Mapua are grouped together with Arellano University, University of Perpetual Help, De La Salle University, Treston, and AMA University.

Joining FEU and Diliman College in Group B of the seniors division are Letran College, College of St. Benilde, San Sebastian College, and La Consolacion College.

The Summer League of the Fr. Martin’s Cup is only the first of three tournaments lined up for calendar year 2019. A Division II league will begin in July, while a season-ending open tournament is expected to commence on November.
