MANILA—In a shocking development this Holy Week, Scott Farrell announced that he is leaving Ringstar.

"It is with a heavy heart that I announce my official resignation as CEO & Founder of Ringstar Management Pte Ltd., including the sale of my remaining shares," the British boxing promoter said in a statement.

He further revealed that he already vacated his position as the boss of the Singaporean-based boxing promotion last week.

"This was not an easy decision for me to make. Ringstar, trading as Ringstar Asia, was my sole creation and vision from conception," Farrell further stated.

It was through Ringstar that former International Boxing Organization bantamweight champion Michael DasmariƱas launched his international career while changing the career path for some other Asian pugs for the better.

"I started Ringstar to make an impact on the Asian boxing scene, to provide a platform on the world’s stage for the region’s best boxing talents, and I believe that mission has been accomplished," Farrell continued. "I leave the promotion with some of the top potential fighters in the world and a broadcast reach of over 200 million potential viewers from shows that we produced. It has been a great honour to work with some amazing people and I will miss you all."

On why he will depart from Ringstar, he said, "The reason behind my decision to vacate the position is to commence work on a new global project that will take my career in the direction I want to proceed from here onward."

While he did not divulge further his new endeavor, Farrell hinted that it is still boxing-related.

"Where possible and prudent, I will be happy to offer partnership and co-promotion opportunities to Ringstar Asia and it is my sincere hope that we can work together in the future even as separate entities," he further said.
