MANILA--An event that usually takes place in a football match happened in a basketball game.
And in a finals match at that.
A fan wearing a Spider-Man costume stormed into the hardwood of the Smart Araneta Coliseum in Quezon City late into Game 5 of the PBA Philippine Cup Finals between San Miguel and Magnolia.
The "pitch invasion" happened at the 3:10 mark of the fourth quarter when the spectator came from the stands holding a paper.
However, he bumped into Junemar Fajardo, hurting both men, forcing an official's timeout in the process.
The security team quickly caught the fan and sent him off the court.
San Miguel assistant coach Boycie Zamar was then seen holding the costume the fan wore and giving it to the Quezon City police.
"Gusto ko lang magmahalan tayo," "Spider-Man", who claimed that he is part of a charity since 2010, shared his "advocacy" leading to the court invasion.
However, the drama did not end there as another fan, who seemed like the costumed invader's friend, was seen confronting the Beermen's bench right after.
He too was sent off the court.
However, the other fan denied that he is the invader's accomplice.
"Hindi ako kasama. Di ko kilala yan," the second fan claimed.
As per the advice of the league's legal team, Commissioner Willie Marcial did not divulge the names of the said fans.
