MANILA—It sounds like some prized fight. A bunch of undercards before the main bout.

And maybe it is….

It is of the roundball variety though as the second Hanes One-On-One King of the Hardcourt that tips off this Tuesday during the halftime breaks of matches of the Filoil flying V Preseason Cup, will feature some exciting battles.

Defending King of the Hardcourt Prince Carlos takes on Emilio Aguinaldo College’s high-leaping forward JP Maguliano during the halftime break of the DLSU-Mapua 5 p. m. match.

Carlos, the 5’11 guard out of Muntinlupa City will have his hands full against Maguliano, the 6’2” forward out of Isabela.

Maguliano is in his third year with EAC while Carlos is in his sophomore year.

In other One-On-One matches, Arellano University’s hulking 6’6” forward-center Justin Araña battles 6’2” University of the Philippines wingman Joe Gomez De Liaño open the day’s matches when they battle during the halftime of the FEU-Perpetual Help juniors game at 10 a.m.

Araña hails from Bicol and showed promise with UST before transferring to Arellano University where in his Filoil debut tallied a double double of 16 points and 17 rebounds. L

Joe Gomez De Liaño is the eldest of the Gomez De Liaño brothers playing for UP.

Joe suits up though for Team B.

Another pair of Bicolanos in Jamba Garing of Lyceum and Jose Rizal University’s Jarvy Ramos battle during the break of the Ateneo-LPU juniors match at 11:45 a.m.

Garing is a 5’8” point guard for LPU who will go up against a 6’5” forward in Ramos.

UST’s Zach Huang will match up with San Sebastian rookie Rommel Calahat during the break of the 1:30 p.m. FEU-NU game.

The 6’2” Huang is in his fourth year at UST after a sterling high school career with Ateneo de Cebu.

Calahat who also stands 6’2” was a star his Cagayan De Oro team that was a revelation in the last two stagings of the NBTC National Finals.

During the halftime of the Adamson-College of St. Benilde game at 3:15, FEU’s Fil-Australian forward Cade Flores faces off with Centro Escolar University’s John Earl Lisbo.

Flores is a 6’3” rookie out of Sydney while Lisbo is a 6’1” forward out of Silay, Negros Occidental.

The winner of the Hanes One-On-One King of the Hardcourt will receive a P20,000 cash prize.
