Alaska spoils Magnolia's Comm Cup debut with blowout

MANILA—Alaska gave Magnolia a rude welcome to the PBA Commissioner's Cup with a 103-80 rout at the Smart Araneta Coliseum in Quezon City on Wednesday night.

The Aces gradually broke away from the Hotshots and eventually erupted for 39 third quarter points to seal the blowout victory.

Chris Daniels made 23 points, seven rebounds, two assists, and one block for Alaska, which moved up to solo fifth place at 3-2.

Jvee Casio added 17 points, one rebound, and four assists, while Jeron Teng came up with 12 markers, 12 boards, four dimes, and one swipe.

Ian Sangalang put up 17 markers, nine caroms, one dime, and one block for Magnolia, which has now lost three straight games dating back to the Philippine Cup Finals.

John Fields had a rough night in his Magnolia debut, only converting 12 points, six rebounds, and one block.
