MANILA—Ceres Negros and Hanoi settled for a 1-1 draw in the first leg of their tie in the ASEAN Zonal Semifinals of the AFC Cup at the Panaad Stadium in Bacolod on Tuesday night.
Pape Omar Faye saved the day for the visitor from Vietnam as he eventually forced the deadlock a few minutes after Bienve Marañon sent the home crowd into frenzy.
Marañon drew first blood for Negros with a 57th minute strike.
However, Faye answered just 10 minutes after with the equalizer that turned to be so vital for Hanoi.
Despite the draw, Hanoi holds a slight advantage over Negros with the away goal from Faye entering the return leg next Tuesday night in the Vietnamese capital.
