PASIG—Only eight players attended Gilas Pilipinas' return to training on Monday night ahead of the FIBA World Cup.

Japeth Aguilar, Raymond Almazan, Mark Barroca, Junemar Fajardo, Marcio Lassiter, Gabe Norwood, RR Pogoy, and Troy Rosario showed up among the players in the first practice of the national team for the World Cup at the Meralco Gym.

With the PBA Commissioner's Cup still ongoing, Gilas and concurrent NLEX coach Yeng Guiao is relegated to holding twice-a-week practice session for the rest of June and the entirety of July.

And with only eight players available on Monday night, Guiao only taught offensive drills for the Nationals, although he said that he will infuse defensive strategies once more players attend the practice.

Guiao also looks to hold daily practices for Gilas by August.
