Gilas Women recover with win vs host Mongolia

MANILA—Gilas Pilipinas Women scored their first win in the FIBA 3x3 U18 World Cup after drubbing host country Mongolia, 20-14, in the capital city of Ulaanbataar on Monday night.

Gilas Women went on a huge 11-5 run midway into the match to break out of a 4-all tie and bounce back from their loss to France earlier Monday.

Held scoreless against France, Angelica Surada imposed her will inside the paint and made seven points to lead Gilas Women, who will return to action on Wednesday night against the Netherlands while holding a 1-1 record in Pool C play.

Camille Clarin added six points, while Ella Fajardo contributed five and Karl Ann Pingol made two.

Enermaa Erdenebayar scored a game-high nine markers for Mongolia, while Ariunsetseg Baterdene added four and Enkhtuul Atlantsol made the other Mongolian point.
