PASIG—Gilas Pilipinas Youth survived an endgame push from Far Eastern University to take a 67-66 in the tail end of a two-game tune-up series at the Meralco Gym on Thursday night.

Gilas Youth was on the verge of pulling away after opening a 62-51 lead early in the final quarter.

However, FEU crawled back as a 15-5 run trimmed the lead down to just one with 18.3 seconds left.

FEU even had a chance of stealing the win as Dave Ildefonso missed two pressure-packed free throws off a foul with 11.7 seconds remaining.

However, Ken Tuffin's wide-open left corner triple just touched the front rim as time expired.

Kai Sotto and Xyrus Torres each scored 14 points for Gilas Youth, which bounced back from a 71-73 loss to University of the East the night before.

Gilas Youth used the tune-up games against the UAAP rivals as part of its preparation for the FIBA U19 World Cup.

Gilas Youth will have one more practice at the said venue on Friday before flying to Doha to continue its training.
