BIÑAN—The Philippines Football League announced on Saturday that the scheduled showdown between Global Makati and Mendiola has been abandoned.

Signs of the eventual abandonment became imminent when the supposed 3:30 p.m. kick-off between both sides at the Biñan Football Stadium was pushed back for 30 minutes.

But with the venue still not eligible to host a match with floodlights on, Match Commissioner Ebong Joson called on both sides and the officiating crew to declare the total postponement of the match, which the PFL eventually declared an abandonment moments later.

Global Makati was looking for its second straight win in the season, while Mendiola is in a quest for the elusive first win.
