MANDALUYONG—Philippine Sports Commission chairman Butch Ramirez reiterated that the support for Olympic silver medalist Hidilyn Diaz will still be there.
Ramirez and Diaz patched some things up in a meeting held at the PSC office in Pasig on Thursday.
Diaz, through an Instagram story, asked her followers to help fund her preparation for the 2020 Olympics in Tokyo.
One fan even said that he and his friends are willing to put up a fundraiser for Diaz.
However, Ramirez said on Tuesday night in a statement that the PSC "has been very supportive" to Diaz, even saying that she is among the highest paid national athletes.
Ramirez reassured it by approving two requests from Diaz for additional funds for her training in China.
“We have pledged our support before, and we will continue to do so because we are focused on that Olympic gold as much as Hidilyn is,” Ramirez continued.
Diaz then vowed that she will never quit in her quest to finally give the Philippines an Olympic gold.
