Australia keeps Gilas Youth winless in FIBA U19 at start of consolation phase

MANILA—Even in a consolation phase, Gilas Pilipinas Youth finds a win in the FIBA U19 World Cup elusive.

Australia sent Gilas Youth to its fifth straight loss overall in the said tournament with an 82-60 win at the start of the classification phase among teams that missed the quarterfinals at the Heraklion University Hall on Friday.

The Emus opened the game with an 11-0 run and never looked back from there as they kept a shot at finishing ninth place intact.

Samson Froling led Australia with 13 points, seven rebounds, four assists, three steals, and two blocks.

Kody Stattmann added 11 points, three rebounds, two assists, and two steals.

Dave Ildefonso put up 13 points, four rebounds, two steals, and four steals for Gilas Youth, which could now only finish as high as 13th place.

Kai Sotto had a double-double of 12 points and 12 rebounds with one assist, three blocks, and two steals.
