PASIG—Even if he suffered an MCL sprain during San Miguel's PBA Commissioner's Cup quarterfinal against NorthPort, Marcio Lassiter remains a member of the Gilas Pilipinas Men pool for the FIBA World Cup.

"He's still part of the pool," Coach Yeng Guiao said after practice on Thursday night at the Meralco Gym.

In fact, he remains optimistic that Lassiter will be able to fully recover in time for the FIBA worlds, which will begin on Aug. 30.

"We're not giving up on our hope yet. Baka gumaling nang mabilis. Baka mag-recover siya. He will always have a slot in the team if he's OK now," Guiao further said.

A Grade 1 MCL sprain usually takes six weeks to heal.
