GAU blows by Global Makati in PFL rematch

By Ivan Saldajeno

MANILA—Green Archers United jumped to third place in the PFL standings in style, dealing Global Makati a 9-0 beating at the PFF National Training Centre in Carmona on Sunday.

A far cry from their first meeting on May 29, GAU simply pounced on a Global Makati team that only had 12 players available.

John Celiz opened the barrage for GAU, scoring all of his four goals in the first half, which turned out to be all GAU scored in the first 45 minutes.

Marvin Angeles, Roykent Bedia, and Fredy Mbang then finished the job for GAU, accounting for all of its goals in the second half.

Angeles completed a brace after scoring in the 52nd and 62nd minutes with Mbang's 55th minute strike sandwiched in between.

Bedia then delivered the exclamation point for GAU, accomplishing his own brace in the 80th and the 90th minutes.

GAU is now on 14 points after eight matches with a plus-12 goal difference, overtaking Stallion Laguna for the third spot.

Stallion Laguna, however, has a match at hand, a Wednesday showdown with Air Force.

Global Makati, on the other hand, stays in sixth place with only three points to show.
