Gilas, Mighty Sports battle to draw in tuneup

PASIG—Gilas Pilipinas Men and Mighty Sports fought to an 85-all draw in their tuneup match ahead of their respective future competitions at the Meralco Gym on Monday night.

Marcio Lassiter and CJ Perez saved the day for Gilas Men after drilling back-to-back treys to salvage the stalemate after trailing, 79-85, with 1:37 left in the game.

McKenzie Moore had a chance to preserve the win for Mighty Sports, but his three-pointer rimmed out as time expired.

Coaches Yeng Guiao and Rajko Toroman agreed that no overtime will be played.

Gilas Men played its first tuneup ahead of its preparation for the FIBA World Cup.

Mighty Sports, meanwhile, is preparing for the Jones Cup, which begins on Friday in New Taipei.
