PASAY CITY - A new import meant a new breath of life for the San Miguel Beermen as they won in high fashion against the NLEX Road Warriors, 109-105, on a Friday night at the Mall of Asia Arena.

Former NBA player Chris McCullough made his first impression donning the San Miguel jersey by scoring 47 points to go along with 10 rebounds, 1 assist and 2 steals.

San Miguel surged in the third quarter, outscoring NLEX, 46-17, to lead by 28 points, 97-69.

But NLEX proved that the game is not over until it is over, coming to as close as four points, although the 28-point cushion turned out to be too hard to overcome.

Despite the win, Coach Leo Austria is not a hundred percent happy about it.

"Kahit masama yung ending ng game, nagpapasalamat pa rin ako dahil panalo kami. In spite of leading as much as 29 points, we were able to manage to win but obviously, we are not happy with that win because we let them recover with the help of other people but I have to give credit some of the players, especially the import because he's out there to win and I think he's the big difference why we salvaged this win," said Austria in the post-game press conference.
