CARMONA--Mendiola posted its biggest win in the PFL, handing Green Archers United a 5-2 rout at the PFF National Training Centre on Wednesday.
Ash Flores' early brace which eventually became a hat trick set the tone for Mendiola's surprise blowout of GAU, a virtual 180-degree turn from their first round meeting, in which GAU pummeled Mendiola.
Flores stunned GAU with back-to-back goals in the seventh and 15th minutes to put Mendiola up, 2-0.
Soul Mdepe drilled one in the 36th minute, while Mar Diano netted his first PFL goal right on his birthday, scoring it in the 45th minute as Mendiola suddenly opened a 4-0 halftime lead.
Flores completed the hat trick with a 54th minute strike, which turned out to be the icing on the cake for Mendiola.
Pao Bugas and Freddy Mbang scored the consolation goals for GAU in the 87th minute and the first minute of stoppage time respectively.
While the result had a little impact in the league as GAU and Mendiola remain fourth and fifth respectively, Mendiola's win would serve as a morale booster for the club ahead of a tough showdown against Kaya Iloilo on Saturday.
