BINAN--Meralco banked on the late heroics of Delroy James to shock San Miguel, 95-91, in the penultimate game of the PBA Commissioner's Cup eliminations at the Smart Araneta Coliseum in Quezon City on Wednesday night.

James scored on back-to-back layups as the Bolts broke out of a 91-all tie and won to set up a battle with the Alaska Aces for the last seat in the quarterfinals.

James finished with 34 points on 12-of-23 shooting, five rebounds, six assists, two blocks, and four steals for Meralco, whose wildcard battle with Alaska is set for Friday night at the Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay.

Chris Newsome added 20 points, six rebounds, and four assists.

Chris McCullough and Junemar Fajardo each scored 27 points, but they combined for 15 of SMB's 22 turnovers as the team is now in danger of falling to the seventh seed.
