BIÑAN—San Miguel stretched its late rally in the PBA Commissioner's Cup to a third straight win with an 89-87 squeaker over Rain Or Shine at the Xavier University Gym in Cagayan De Oro on Saturday night.

The Beermen used a solid fourth quarter to upend the Elasto Painters, although the latter still had one last crack to steal the win.

Down four after three periods, SMB took control of most of the fourth quarter, eventually opening a seven-point lead, 89-82, with 1:08 left in the game.

ROS still tried to mount a comeback as Javee Mocon made a triple and Carl Montgomery added two free throws to cut the lead to just two with 10 seconds remaining.

Chris McCullough failed to ice the game for the Beermen after missing a layup, giving the E-Painters 0.5 second to steal the victory.

But Beau Belga misfired an open three-point attempt as time expired.

McCullough made 24 points, 17 rebounds, four assists, five blocks, and one steal for SMB, which moved back to .500 at 5-5.

Junemar Fajardo added 23 points, 15 rebounds, one assist, and three blocks.

Mocon fired 20 points, eight rebounds, five assists, and one block for ROS, which will now need to wait for the results of the remaining games to determine its playoff fate after finishing the elimination round at 5-6.

Montgomery had his own double-double of 18 points and 13 rebounds with two rebounds, two steals, and two blocks.
