Ceres Negros beats gritty Air Force in James Younghusband return

By Ivan Saldajeno

LIPA--Ceres Negros prevailed in its first game with James Younghusband around, beating Air Force, 3-0, in their PFL clash at the Aboitiz Pitch on Saturday night.

But unlike its surprise 5-0 beating of Stallion Laguna last week, Ceres Negros had a tough time breaching past the Air Force defense.

Super Herrera opened the scoring for Ceres Negros with his 15th minute goal, but it took 19 minutes before Dylan De Bruycker added another goal in the 34th minute.

Robert Mendy capped the scoring with a 59th minute goal before giving way for Younghusband, who came in as a late substitute.

Ceres Negros moved up to 34 points after 12 matches, reopening a six-point advantage against idle Kaya Iloilo in the league table.

Air Force, on the other hand, failed to follow up on its shock victory against Mendiola on Wednesday and remained stuck in fifth place with seven points.
