LIPA—OJ Porteria shut the door on his former club as his goal gave Ceres Negros a 1-0 win against Kaya Iloilo in the main game of the PFL doubleheader at the Aboitiz Pitch on Saturday night.
The lone goal happened in the 16th minute, when Stephan Schrock found Porteria for the eventual game-winner.
Kaya Iloilo, however, had two golden opportunities to at least force the tie in the second half especially with Coach Risto Vidakovic and Sean Kane sent off.
In the 47th minute, Jovin Bedic was designated to take a penalty after a handball call inside the box, but his spot kick hit the top post before going back to play.
Bedic would convert the follow-up, but his goal was nullified as he, being the penalty taker, is not allowed to follow up his own miss.
Then in the 88th minute, Darryl Roberts found an open goal after Roland Muller failed to get his hands on the ball, but Carlie De Murga was just outside the goal line to clear the ball out.
That game-saving performance from De Murga earned him Man of the Match honors.
Worse, Bedic was also given a red card off two yellow cards, meaning the captain will miss Kaya Iloilo's match next week against Air Force.
