Salenga saves Global Makati as late goal forces 1-1 draw at GAU

LIPA—Paolo Salenga broke Green Archers United's hearts yet again as a late goal saved Global Makati's cause and forced a 1-1 draw in the main game of the PFL twinbill at the Aboitiz Pitch on Saturday night.

Just when GAU thought it would escape with a hard-fought win to close out a three-match home stand, Salenga drilled in the equalizer at the death for Global Makati to salvage a point on the road.

Tonaldo Appiah broke the ice after drilling in a 69th minute penalty to put GAU ahead, 1-0.

But Salenga slotted in the equalizer from just outside the box off Lemuel Unabia's long free kick with only one minute left in regulation—five in total counting the four-minute stoppage time—to the delight of a Global Makati squad looking to end a five-game losing streak.

Global Makati is now on four points, just three points behind Air Force, 0-3 loser over Ceres Negros in the first game, for sixth place in the table.

GAU, on the other hand, missed out on its second chance to tie Stallion Laguna on points and remained in fourth place with 19 points.
