By Ivan Saldajeno

LIPA—Stallion Laguna made quick work of Global Makati with a 4-1 rout in the nightcap of the PFL doubleheader at the Aboitiz Pitch on Saturday.

An early blitz set the tone for Stallion Laguna as the club inched closer momentarily in the race for second place in the team standings.

Fitch Arboleda drew first blood for Stallion Laguna in the ninth minute, while Balot Doctora made it 2-0 four minutes later.

Charlie Beaton denied former teammate Nelson Gasic of a clean sheet in his Stallion Laguna debut by scoring the lone Global Makati goal in the 45th minute.

But Abou Sy answered with a goal of his own just before halftime as his team entered halftime ahead, 3-1.

Jhan-Jhan Melliza capped the win with a penalty kick in the 63rd minute.

Stallion Laguna moved up to 21 points, just a point behind idle Kaya Iloilo for the second spot in the table.

However, Kaya Iloilo can widen the gap again with a win against Air Force on Sunday at Stallion Laguna's home, the Biñan Football Stadium.

Global Makati remained dead last in the standings with only three points to show.
