QUEZON CITY - The TNT KaTropa took the first game of the best-of-seven PBA Commissioner's Cup Finals series against the San Miguel Beermen on a gloomy Sunday night at the Smart-Araneta Coliseum, 109-96.

Terrence Jones sizzled with 41 points in the game, leading the KaTropa all game through.

The KaTropa dictated the tempo of the game as early as the first half as San Miguel took a 20-point beating from TNT as early as the second quarter, despite the efforts coming from Chris McCullough before taking an 18-point advantage at the end of the first half; 60-42.

San Miguel, through June Mar Fajardo, were able to cut the lead down to 13 at the end of the third period, but that was the closest the Beermen can get in the game as the KaTropa kept surging.

Game 2 of the Finals between the TnT KaTropa and the San Miguel Beermen will be played on Wednesday, still at the Smart-Araneta Coliseum.
