LIPA--Most Filipino football fans would remember Alex Elnar as a hard-nosed defender who would never back down whoever the attacker is, whether in club play or even in his stint with the national team.

But when he joined Air Force following the disbanding of JPV Marikina for this year's PFL season, Coach Leo Jaena asked Elnar to move up the field at the middle.

It turned out to be beneficial for the veteran as being a midfielder was actually his original position when he started his career.

"Normal na sa akin na saan-saan ako nilalagay," Elnar told Dugout Philippines on Wednesday night.

While he did not score a single goal in Air Force's 4-1 drubbing of Global Makati at the Aboitiz Pitch, his brilliance at the midfield was good enough for him to be named Man of the Match.

"I'm very happy to go back to my real position," Elnar continued.

The win should serve as a huge motivator as Air Force will face the still undefeated Ceres Negros on Saturday night back at the Aboitiz Pitch.
