QUEZON CITY - The FEU Tamaraws notched its first win with the help of the Wendell Comboy-L-Jay Gonzales tandem, beating the UE Red Warriors by 81-65, Sunday afternoon at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.
Comboy got a career high of 24 points that came from six three-pointer baskets.
Fellow former Baby Tamaraw Gonzales also got a career high with 14 points alongside eight rebounds, eight assists and two steals.
The tandem's career-high points and efforts greatly help in the Tamaraws win against the Warriors.
Senegalese Alex Diakhite got 21 points, with double-double 15 rebounds and four blocks for theRed Warriors.
Rey Suerte had a double-double in this game with 17 points and 10 rebounds but still fell short to help the warriors to reach the winning column.
The Tamaraws will have a week before they will face the Ateneo Blue Eagles on Saturday, 4 p.m., at the Mall of Asia Arena, while the Red Warriors will try to gain a win as they will face the Adamson Soaring Falcons on Wednesday, 4.p.m, at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.
