MANILA – Gilas Pilipinas will go home without any pride that they should bring off as they formally ended their World Cup campaign at 0-5 card after Iran made them suffer into a 75-95 loss tonight at the Wukesong Sports Center in Beijing.

The Iranians, led by Hamed Haddadi, will also go to the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games after winning in the quotient points against China, who lost earlier against Nigeria.

The Philippines actually tasted the lead against the Iranian behemoths, 19-17 with 4:22 left in the first quarter.

The most efficient scorer for Gilas all tournament long, CJ Perez, scored nine points, including his putback and fastbreak reverse layup from the block of Troy Rosario to cut Gilas' deficit into three, 34-31 with 7:16 left in the 2nd frame.

But Iran answered back to put them into a double-digit lead, 41-31 with 5:28 left.

Iran continued to extend their stretch to run away as their cold-blooded 9-0 run from downtown ballooned their lead into 21, 58-37, in the 3rd canto.

Robert Bolick, who rampaged in the 4th quarter of the game, tallied 15 points of the game after made some couple of threes and slashing inside the paint.

Gilas Pilipinas already alleviated their struggles in field goals with 47% (17/36) and three-pointers with 11 but they will leave China with issues to their rebounding, passing, and foul unanswered.
