Gilas Women walloped anew in FIBA Women's Asia Cup as China wins by 47

BINAN--Gilas Pilipinas Women was dealt another blowout loss in the FIBA Women's Asia Cup as China walked away with a 104-57 victory on Wednesday night at the Sree Kanteerava Indoor Stadium in Bengaluru.

Although Gilas Women got a taste of the lead midway in the first quarter and even keeping the game close for most of the period, China was too much, breaking away by ending the canto on an 8-0 run and going on another 14-0 run midway in the second before capping the win with a 33-10 fourth quarter.

Chen Mingling put up 21 points, two rebounds, and three assists to lead China, which is now 2-0 in Group B.

Guo Zixuan added 19 points, six rebounds, one assist, and two steals, while Li Yueru (11 points and 10 rebounds) and Han Xu (11 rebounds and 10 points) each contributed a double-double.

Afril Bernardino led Gilas Women, who fell to 0-2, with 10 points, three rebounds, one assist, two steals, and one block.

China will face Australia, which also went 2-0 with an 82-44 rout of New Zealand earlier Wednesday, on Thursday for an outright semifinal spot.

Gilas Women, on the other hand, will play New Zealand for a quarterfinal seat and the assurance of staying in Division A of the tournament also on Thursday.
