QUEZON CITY--Pasig Chooks could not sustain a good start and ended up losing to Lyon, 17-20, in the quarterfinals of the FIBA 3x3 Manila Challenger at the SM Fairview Events Center on Sunday.

Pasig Chooks was actually in control for most of the contest as its defense held Lyon, which struggled from long range, to just 10 points in the first seven and a half minutes of play.

But the French side got things going in the endgame as Raphael Wilson sparked a 6-0 run that gave the club a 16-13 lead.

Nikola Pavlovic tried to salvage Pasig's cause with a long tom that cut the lead to one, 16-15, but Raphael Giaimo and Herve Toure made huge baskets down the stretch to put the game away.

Giaimo made seven points, while Toure and Wilson added five points each for Lyon, which will take on Gagarin, 21-18 winner over Humpolec in another quarterfinal, in one semifinal clash.

The other semifinal pairing has Riga and Ulaanbaatar in it.

Pavlovic made nine markers for Pasig, whose loss means no Filipino team will make the semifinals of the challenger, a qualifier for the FIBA 3x3 World Tour Jeddah Masters, the Philippines is hosting.

The Philippines will still have a team heading to Jeddah as Balanga Chooks, which was given a direct invite, booked a spot there.

The Scores:

Lyon 20 - Giaimo 7, Touré 5, Wilson 5, Girma 3.

Pasig 17 - Pavlovic 9, Munzon 7, Ababou 1, Rike 0.
