Blackwater posts 1st win in Govs Cup, downs NorthPort

MANILA--Blackwater finally notched a win in the PBA Governors' Cup by beating NorthPort, 107-98, at the Ynares Center in Antipolo on Saturday night.

The Elite went down on defense in the second quarter, holding the Batang Pier to just 18 points as they opened a 51-41 lead at halftime.

NorthPort mounted a comeback in the third quarter, outscoring Blackwater, 28-22, in the third quarter to trim the lead to just four, 73-69, entering the fourth quarter.

The Elite finally held off the Batang Pier after exploding for 34 points in the final frame.

Ray-Ray Parks made 21 points, four rebounds, one assist, and two steals for Blackwater, which is now at 1-2 in the team standings.

Carl Cruz added 16 points, five rebounds, and one block, while Roi Sumang and Mike Digregorio each made 14 markers off the bench.

Marqus Blakely came close to a rare quadruple-double with 13 points, 14 rebounds, seven assists, and eight blocks with one steal.

Mychal Ammons made 29 markers, 17 rebounds, one steal, and one block for NorthPort, which fell to 1-3.

Mo Tautuaa also posted a double-double with 12 markers and 10 boards with one assist, one block, and one steal.

Robert Bolick flirted with a triple-double after tallying 14 points, nine boards, and eight dimes with one steal.
