QUEZON CITY - De La Salle Green Archers survives the UST Growling Tigers after surviving an intense game with 80-79, Wednesday evening at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.

Jamie Malonzo, Brandon Bates, and the De La Salle Green Archers dozed down the hot shooting UST Growling Tigers to stay in the hunt for a final four slot.

As the game looked like it's already won by La Salle with one minute left in the contest and the Archers leading by 9, 80-71, Rhenz Abando fired two consecutive triples to bring the Tigers within three.

With ten seconds left and the ball with the Archers, a quick steal by Abando and what's supposed to be a three, but unfortunately stepped on the line, almost brought the game to overtime, 80-79.

Jamie Malonzo fired arrows and scored 23 points, seven boards, two dimes, and two steals, backed up by two highlight dunks. With the help of Aljun Melecio who chipped in 18 points, two rebounds, six assists, and one steal.

Rhenz Abando and Soulemane Chabi Yo combined for 36 points as they were the lone double digit scorers for the Espanya based squad.

With the Green Archers win, they go up 6-6 while the Growling Tigers are tied with the FEU Tamaraws at 7-6.
