Meralco romps Phoenix for back-to-back wins

LIPA--Meralco quickly took the life out of Phoenix and won for the second straight time in the PBA Governors' Cup, 111-94, at the Smart Araneta Coliseum in Quezon City on Sunday night.

The Bolts zapped the Fuel Masters from the get-go, opening a 28-16 lead after the first quarter and never looked back, even stretching the gap to as high as 27 points.

Allen Durham made 27 points, 12 rebounds, three assists, and one block for Meralco, which momentarily tied Magnolia for fourth place.

The Hotshots are playing the Alaska Aces as of posting.

Baser Amer added 26 points, two rebounds, four assists, and four steals.

Raymond Almazan and Bong Quinto each tallied 14 markers with the former achieving a double-double as well with 12 rebounds.

Chris Newsome even had a triple-double with 13 points, 12 rebounds, and 11 assists with two steals and one block.

Eugene Phelps made 31 points, 24 rebounds, three assists, and one block for Phoenix, which fell to a tie with NorthPort at the bottom of the standings at 1-3.
