UP secures twice-to-beat advantage after ousting La Salle

ANTIPOLO CITY - The UP Fighting Maroons kicked the DLSU Green Archers out of the UAAP men's basketball playoff contention with a 71-68 win Sunday evening at the Ynares Center.


With the win, the Fighting Maroons now secured the second seed and a twice-to-beat advantage for the first time with 9-4 while the Green Archers fell to the fifth spot with 6-7.

Bright Akhuetie led the Fighting Maroons win with 17 points on 8/10 field goals, 10 rebounds, two assists and two steals.

Jun Manzo and Ricci Rivero chipped in 12 and 11 points respectively for the Fighting Maroons in the win.

Jamie Malonzo and Aljun Melecio led the Green Archers with 17 and 12 points respectively.
