MANILA—Jerwin Ancajas' title defense on Sunday (Philippine Time) will not push through anymore.

On Friday (Philippine Time), Top Rank announced the cancellation of Ancajas' bout against Mexican opponent Jonathan Rodriguez.

Ancajas was supposed to put his IBF junior bantamweight title belt on the line against Rodriguez at the Dignity Health Sports Park in Carson, California.

However, Top Rank said that Rodriguez encountered visa issues when he was set to leave for the said city, leaving the promotion with no choice but to scrap off the bout from the schedule.

Despite the cancellation of the bout, Ancajas approached the said development on a positive note.

"Siguro may mas magandang plano pa ang Panginoon bat di natuloy ang laban," Ancajas said in a statement posted in his Facebook account.
Only the WBC super featherweight title bout between champion Miguel Berchelt and challenger Jason Sosa will push through among the championship fights originally scheduled in the fight card.
