Interesting Story Lines for the Rebisco Volleyball League 2019 National Finals

While there are 40 matches during the week-long Rebisco Volleyball League 2019 National Finals, the storylines are limitless. Here are some of the more fascinating storylines revolving these matches.

A new national champion

Adamson University dethroned last year’s National Champion Kings Montessori School in this year’s NCR Regionals. Likewise, Nazareth School of National University is not in the list of finalists for RVL 2019. While the Lady Falcons are one of the favorites to win it all, the level of competition makes that a non-guarantee. The throne is open for a new winner and every team will fight to be the last squad standing.

Fresh teams, new faces

Even if Hawaii is fielding another team this year, only one player from last year will be returning to the fold (Gennezia Hawkins). The other teams that participated in last year’s National Finals will be bringing in new players. But the biggest change in this year’s cast are the new queens of their respective regions.

California Academy will be upholding Southern Luzon’s banner while Iligan City National High School atoned last year’s loss to Cagayan De Oro City National High School. Meanwhile, First City Providential College are Northern Luzon’s representatives. Finally, the Australian Under-18 Girls Volleyball team will be gracing the competition as well.

Defending our turf

The nine regional champions will try to defend home court against the four guest teams. It will be a tall order, though, as they will be competing against the Australians, the Hawaiians, Team Sibu from Malaysia, and 3BB Nakornnont Sports School from Thailand. The presence of the foreign guest teams elevates the level of competition and makes the RVL a proving ground of the local players against their foreign counterparts.

The Rebisco Volleyball League 2019 National Finals will run from November 23 to 30 at the Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig City. Admission to all games is free. You can also watch the games via the Rebisco Volleyball League Facebook Page.
