New-look SOCCSKSARGEN still overpowered as Pampanga scores 44-point rout

By Ivan Saldajeno

BINAN--To the surprise of many, SOCCSKSARGEN got to play on Tuesday night despite the suspension slapped to the team by the MPBL the night before.

The result of the game, however, was not surprising.

A heavily-retooled Marlins squad was still outplayed at the Alonte Sports Arena as the Pampanga Giant Lanterns scored a 115-71 win.

The lack of cohesion among the virtually brand new SOCCSKSARGEN roster was imminent all game long when Pampanga held the team to just 39 points in the first three quarters and even led by as much as 51 points late in the third period.

The Marlins finally got their groove in the fourth quarter, but it was already way too late for them.

Wilson Baltazar made 15 points, two rebounds, one assist, and one steal for Pampanga, which now took solo fourth place in the North Division at 13-7.

Levi Hernandez added 14 points and three rebounds, while Mark Cruz chipped in 13 points, 11 assists, four rebounds, and three steals.

New signing Jorem Morada put up 20 markers, three boards, and four dimes for SOCCSKSARGEN, which remained winless after 19 games.
