MANILA - The Philippine polo team is now assured of at least a silver medal in the Southeast Asian Games after the team set up a date with Malaysia in the final of the mixed 4-6 high goal event at the Inigo Zobel Polo Field in Calatagan, Batangas.

The Filipino squad beat Indonesia on Thursday, 6-4.5, to secure the top spot in the standings after the last day of the elimination round.

The Philippines ended the preliminary round with three wins and a loss against Brunei led by Prince Mateen Bolkiah, the son of Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah.

Regardless of the result of the final on Sunday, this will be the first time the Philippines will have a medal in this event since it was brought back last 2017 in Malaysia.

Brunei, however, fell prey to Malaysia, 5.5-8, later Thursday, handing the latter the other spot in the Sunday final.
