The Rebisco Volleyball League 2019 National Finals is Finally Underway!

After over 60 pre-qualifying tournaments and nine regional finals that occurred for almost a year, all roads of the Rebisco Volleyball League 2019 lead to the Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig City for the National Finals. The regional champions will compete with four foreign guest teams to find out the best among the brightest.

The week-long tournament started with an opening parade to showcase the participating squads. First in line were the Mindanao regional champions, namely St. Alexius College, Iligan City National High School, and University of Mindanao Tagum College.

Then, the Luzon champions California Academy, First City Providential College, and Adamson University came out next. Finally, guest squads from Australia, Malaysia, Thailand, and the United States joined them in the taraflex.

The invocation and the singing of the Philippine national anthem ensued before Metropolitan Sports President Freddie Infante delivered his welcoming remarks. He mentioned that the nine remaining Philippine squads are the best among the 640 schools that competed in the RVL. Infante also reiterated that the RVL is a good training ground to hone and discover volleyball talent. He closed his message by urging the participants to give their best and enjoy the company of the other squads.

Afterward, Action Republic Corporation Operations Head Rissa Guilas gave out a message on behalf of the tournament’s flagship sponsor. Also gracing the event is Rebisco Marketing Communications Associate Samantha Llarena, Action Republic HR and Admin Lead Ysay Marasigan, and Rebisco Marketing Officers Reynan Dela Cruz and Jane Timbengan.

The oath of sportsmanship, led by Hawaii’s Gennezia Hawkins, follow Guilas’ speech. The opening ceremonies of the RVL 2019 National Finals concluded with Guilas formally opening the tournament.
