STA. ROSA, Laguna--In an essential home game, Binan City was on track of its biggest win so far in the MPBL Lakan Season. In the end, however, the team had to disengage Imus' late push.

The Heroes survived the endgame barrage by the Bandera to pull off an 88-83 win on Saturday night at the Sta. Rosa Multi-Purpose Sports Complex here.

Behind a hot first quarter, Binan City raced to a lead as high as 18, 62-44, early in the third quarter, but Imus slowly crawled back and eventually trimmed the lead to just two, 77-75, with 4:41 to play in the fourth.

The Heroes restored some order after scoring eight straight points to stretch their lead back to 10, 85-75, with 3:14 left to play.

The Bandera still tried to come back after going on a 6-0 run to trim the gap to just four, 85-81, with 1:59 to go, but Tata Bautista buried a dagger triple with 1:45 remaining to seal the Heroes' win.

Macky Acosta made 17 points, two rebounds, one assist, and two steals to lead Binan City, which kept its hopes of making the playoffs alive after moving up to 9-13, three games behind Bicol for the eighth spot in the Southern Division. Bautista added 15 markers on 6-for-9 shooting, three rebounds, and two assists.

Jarrell Lim posted 16 markers, four boards, and four dimes off the bench for Imus, which is now facing outright elimination after dropping to 5-17. Jeric Nacpil added a double-double of 14 points and 15 rebounds with two blocks.
