SAN JUAN, MM—Team Adroit powered Sibol took home the gold medal in the Southeast Asian Games DOTA 2 tournament in style, pulling off a huge comeback against Thailand in Game 5 of their finals series at the FilOil Flying V Centre on Monday night.

Up 2-1 entering Game 4, Sibol botched a chance to clinch the outright in the said game as Thailand raced to a hot start that was deemed too much for the host to pull a comeback.

Sibol then found itself down on kills, 3-20, with a whopping 11,000-gold deficit 37 minutes into the deciding fifth match.

However, the Cebuano side came alive beginning with the 38th minute after containing the Thais, who were just fresh from taking out Roshan, with John Vargas' Phantom Lancer leading the way to cut their lead in net worth into half.

The comeback went full throttle in the 40th minute when captain Marvin Rushton, playing as Enigma, blinked into Anucha Jirawong, Nuengnara Teeramahanon, and Poomipat Trisiripanit and activated Black Hole, leading to the three Thai heroes getting killed. The Filipinos eventually killed the Roshan.

Sort of ahead in push but already down by 11,000 golds, Thailand tried to finally finish it off in the middle lane, but timely buybacks from Rushton and Vargas led to the deaths of Teeramahanon and Jirawong.

With both Thais without an available buyback, Sibol went for the jugular, destroying the Thai base after 47 minutes and 19 seconds.

This is the second gold Sibol scored in the ongoing SEA Games esports event, a night after the Philippine side won in the Mobile Legends Bang Bang tourney.
