Gilas Men rout Indonesia to complete SEA Games 3x3 sweep

SAN JUAN, MM--Gilas Pilipinas Men made quick work of Indonesia, 21-9, in the final to win the gold in the Southeast Asian Games 3x3 event at the FilOil Flying V Centre on Monday.

In their rematch, Gilas Men made sure this time that Indonesia will not stay close until the end as they pulled off a mid-game breakaway before putting in the knockout basket with 2:25 to spare.

CJ Perez scored the first three points of the game for Gilas Men only for Itun Surliyadin to get two points back with an and-one opportunity.

After Perez and Rivaldo Pangesthio exchanged baskets, Gilas Men pulled away with a 14-3 run to go up, 18-6. Indonesia still got some baskets, but Mo Tautuaa drilled in a deuce that finished off the contest for Gilas Men.

Perez finished with 10 markers, while Jason Perkins and Chris Newsome each added four and Tautuaa had three for Gilas Men, who completed an 8-0 sweep of the men's division.

Surliyadin put up three markers to lead eventual silver medalist Indonesia. Pangesthio, Oki Sanjaya, and Sandy Aziz each contributed two.
