Gilas Men stretch PH's SEA Games men's 5x5 basketball dominance with rout of Thailand for gold

PASAY--Gilas Pilipinas Men kept the Southeast Asian Games men's 5x5 basketball championship after blasting Thailand, 115-8, in the gold medal game at the Mall of Asia Arena on Tuesday night.

Despite Thailand staying gallant for most of the first half, Gilas Men made sure the gold will remain theirs by going on a 40-15 third quarter to pull away for good.

Junemar Fajardo made 17 points, 13 rebounds, and one assist for Gilas Men, who gave the Philippines its 13th straight SEA Games gold in the men's 5x5 basketball event and 18th overall

LA Tenorio and Chris Standhardinger each added 16 markers with the latter also notching a double-double with 11 boards.

Kiefer Ravena, who won his fifth straight gold, chipped in 10 points on 4-for-5 shooting, four assists, and one steal.

Tyler Lamb led Thailand, which claimed the silver, with 33 points, eight rebounds, six assists, two steals, and one block.
