Meralco sets up PBA Governors' Cup finals date with Ginebra after ousting TNT

ANTIPOLO--It's Ginebra versus Meralco in the PBA Governors' Cup Finals.

The Bolts claimed the other seat in the best-of-seven championship series after beating the TNT KaTropa, 89-78, in the final game of the semifinal round at the Ynares Center on Monday night.

Meralco shut down TNT in the second half, outscoring its sister squad, 50-34, to pull away.

Allen Durham put up 28 points, 10 rebounds, eight assists, and one steal for Meralco, which came back from 1-2 down to clinch the best-of-five series. Chris Newsome added 23 points, eight rebounds, four assists, one steal, and one block.

KJ McDaniels made 30 markers, 13 boards, one dime, two steals, and two blocks for TNT. Ray-Ray Parks chipped in 15 markers, 10 caroms, four dimes, and one steal.

The showdown between the Barangay and the Bolts for all the marbles, the third time they will face off in the finals in four seasons, will begin on Jan. 8.
