Only two years into the NBA, Luka Doncic has gotten the praise of no less than Michael Jordan. |
MANILA—Michael Jordan could not help but be amazed by Luka Doncic's impressive stint in the NBA so far.
Following a successful Rookie of the Year campaign last season, the Slovenian rising star is putting up nearly a triple-double so far this season, averaging 29.0 points, 9.5 rebounds, and 8.6 assists a game and is on track of making a start in next year's All-Star Game.
“Luka is a phenomenal player, and at such a young age. He’s demonstrating skill it takes many guys years to develop. It will be incredible to watch him continue to advance in the league," said Jordan in a statement.
So it was not surprising that Jordan wooed Doncic to join the line of athletes donning the Jordan Brand, and Doncic accepted the shoe endorsement offer.
"It is exciting to join such a talented roster and being given the privilege of defining the next generation of the Jordan Brand," said Dončić, who joined fellow international star Rui Hachimura as ambassadors for Jordan, a subsidiary of Nike.
Doncic added, “Michael Jordan was a hero of mine growing up, so being able to represent this iconic brand, especially as a kid from Slovenia, is an honor.”
With that said, Doncic is in line of having his own signature shoes very soon.
