MANILA—The PBA Governors' Cup Finals between Ginebra and Meralco will now start a bit earlier.
In an announcement on Thursday, the best-of-seven series between the Barangay and the Bolts will now start on Jan. 7.
The league initially scheduled Game 1 of the series on Jan. 8, but with both teams needing to prepare better for Game 2, which will be played at the Quezon Convention Center in Lucena on Jan. 10, the league decided to push Game 1 a night earlier. The venue will still be at the Smart Araneta Coliseum in Quezon City
This marks the first time that a finals game will be played on a Tuesday since the PBA moved its regular midweek schedule to Wednesday.
From Game 2 onward, the PBA will return to its usual Sunday-Wednesday-Friday schedule, meaning after Game 2, both Ginebra and Meralco will only have one day to prepare for Game 3 on Jan. 12 back at "The Big Dome".
