LOS BANOS--The Philippine men's team to the Southeast Asian Games indoor hockey tournament suffered a tough 1-3 loss to Myanmar that knocked the team out of playoff contention on Friday night at the Centtro Mall Convention Center here.

Myanmar took control of the first half thanks to goals from Thein Htike Oo and Ko Wai. Marvin Lianza kept the Philippines in the game with a 23rd minute goal to the delight of the full size crowd, but Thein Htike Aung iced the game for Myanmar with a 28th minute goal off a penalty corner.

Myanmar moved up to 1-3, while the Philippines fell to 0-3 in the eliminations. Because the Philippines also lost to Singapore, 1-4, on Wednesday night, the team will miss the playoffs even if a three-way tie for third place at 1-3 ensues.

The men's team will take a bye on Saturday before playing its last game on Sunday night against Malaysia.
